Bible Verses To Share With Your Children Before School

We all want to help our children grow up well, right? We want to impart the truth of God’s word to them as they learn and mature. So read on for some ways to encourage your kids in the faith and some scriptures to share with them before school in the morning.

Increased pressure

Our kids are under increasing pressure, and as I’ve blogged before, anxiety among teenagers has never been higher. The world has all kinds of different pressures pulling our children in different ways: fame, comparison, career, talent, fame, wealth, and if we don’t know who we are in the world. Jesus, how can we handle the pressure? If we don’t know who we are, then we find people around to tell us. If we don’t know our worth, we find someone to tell us. But what amazes me is that when Jesus lived on earth and taught in parables, He was teaching us how to live, and His message is timeless. He has the words of life, and it is an honor and privilege to impart the wonderful and gracious message of the gospel to our children.

So, how can we communicate this message to our children in a way that resonates with them? The Bible tells us that we should:

“Start showing children the way they should go, and even when they get old, they won’t give it up. Proverbs 22:6

But how do we know which path they should take? We can spend time in prayer with them and bring them to the Lord. As parents, we can encourage and build them up. We can give them the opportunity to study in a safe place.

Set an example

Children learn by imitation, so the best way to teach your child to live is by example. Want your child to love reading? Then read it yourself. Likewise, the best way to teach your children about God’s ways is to live your life with God and share it with your children. Share times when great things happened, moments when your prayers were answered, but also share things you struggled with. They will learn from your life.

As parents, we may not know everything and may not always make the best decisions in life, but we do benefit from experience. We can remember times when things went well and not so well. We can remember what we did in difficult times and how we got through.

One of my kids struggles with anxiety, and when it does, we find a scripture to repeat over and over before he falls asleep. He has also started keeping a diary of his worries. It is by reacting with an eye of faith in times of anxiety or stress that our children will begin to learn that there is another way and that the way of the world is not the only way. “I was made in a terrifying and strange way.” Psalm 139:14

“I loved you with an eternal love.” Jeremiah 31:3

“Even when I pass through the darkest valley, I will fear no calamity because You are with me.” Psalm 23:4

“Lord, I will lie down in peace, for You alone will make me safe.” Psalm 4:8

The Lord said, “I know the plans I have for you, the plans to prosper you and not harm you, the plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

“Whoever trusts in the Lord has new strength. They will fly high like eagles; they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not get weary.” Isaiah 40:31

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor leave you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8

Creative ways to share Bible verses with your children

1. Place a jar by the front door and fill it with scriptures that are special to you. You can include some of the above verses. When you leave, ask your child to take one out to remind them who they are before they leave for the day.
2. Listen to the Glorify App on the way to school or have breakfast together. It features short devotions that will help you breathe a different kind of air in just five minutes. It will remind your child that they are named from heaven and do not belong in this world.
3. Try to memorize one or more of these verses with your children. As corny as it sounds, it actually works. If we have memorized, we can call out to remember when needed.

The Book of Psalms says, “I have hidden Your word in my heart” (Ps 119:11) and later in the same Psalm, “I will walk in freedom because I have sought Your precepts. ” (Ps. 119:45)

You see, God’s law is not restrictive, on the contrary it gives us the freedom to move around without worry, loneliness, or fear.

So what scriptures can we share with our children before they step out of the house into a school-filled day?
